If you’re working on getting ungated in a category or brand, you’ll need to send products to Prep Ninjas before they can go to Amazon. To keep things smooth and organized, here’s the best way to set it up in your dashboard:
Step 1: Create a new item with a temporary SKU
Head over to your Inventory tab and create a new item. Instead of using the SKU you’ll eventually use on Amazon, add a temporary one.

To make it easy to recognize later, add the prefix “TEMP-” in front of your anticipated Amazon SKU.
Step 2: Don’t sync with Amazon
When you create the item, leave the “Create Listing on Channels” toggle off. That way, the item will stay as Prep Ninjas inventory only and won’t try to sync with your Amazon account.
Step 3: Add the item to your inbound shipment
Once the item is set up, add it to your inbound. We’ll receive and hold those units under the temporary SKU until your ungating is complete.
Step 4: Update with your real SKU once you’re ungated
After you’ve been approved, go back into your dashboard and add the correct SKU to your inbound shipment. From there, we’ll move the inventory from the temporary SKU to the real one in our system—so your products are ready to be prepped and sent straight to Amazon.
